Ms. Sara Bloomfield, Executive Director
US
Dear Ms. Bloomfield:
The new biography of Haj Amin el_Huseini on the Museum’s website is tendentious. It states that in the 1920’s and 1930’s, the Mufti was a voice for moderation and against violence, a man of peace. It calls statements that he was a Nazi collaborator “allegations” made by “some”. While the latter statements may be true, the same could be said about the Holocaust itself and I believe by exactly the same people. Would you write about the Holocaust itself that “some people allege” it took place, simply because a fringe element (including millions of extremists in the Middle East and elsewhere) seeks to deny the undeniable? I am sure that you agree that the Museum as the foremost Holocaust educational institution in the United States, must insure that information it provides the public be accurate. It is very serious when the Museum creates a false historical record.
I have enclosed both an executive summary and a more detailed analysis of the Museum’s website piece. I assume that after you read it you will take the appropriate actions to remove from the website the current article and have another written by a scholar whose agenda does not include the desire to prove there was no collaboration between either el Huseini’s and the Nazis or a connection between them and Huseini’s present day acolytes.
Sincerely,
Carol Greenwald
Chairman
